Pirbuterol syrup(Exirel*) was orally administered in four divided doses over 1 week. ach child was evaluated by physical examination, blood analysis, urinalysis, electrocardiog am, and pulmonary function tests twice at admission and 1 week after.
Clinical improvement was noted in 80% of 25 asthmatic children. Disappearance of abnormal breathing sounds were noted as wheezing sound in 72%, rhonchi in 70%, and rales in 55%/ of the cases.
The pulmonary function tests with pirbuterol therapy improved significantly like as 1 VC was increases 1.5 times compared with that of admission in 72% of the cases(p<0. il), FEV 1.0% above 70% was noted in 80% of cases and Peak Flow was also improved in ¢¥0% of the cases (p<0.01).
